Another superb Autumn Steam Gala from the lads and lasses at the GCR, which was helped by some superb autumnal sunshine. This year's event saw an Eastern/Scottish theme with the visit of two Gresley three-cylinder machines: K4 61994 The Great Marquess and D49 246 Morayshire, both locos made runs with the TPO train (which looked resplendent since it repaint into 1960s livery). Also visiting for the gala was recently restored J72 69023 (affectionately known as Joem). Finally, and a late addition to the line-up, was BR 8P 71000 Duke of Gloucester. The Duke was based at the railway during its initial restoration, and this was the first time the unique Pacific had returned in 23 years. The remaining locos in action were drawn from the home fleet: LNER O4 63601; LMS Black 5 45305; GWR Hall 4953 Pitchford Hall (which was deputising for failed N2 1744); BR Standard 2MT 78019 (masquerading as long lost Scottish classmate 78054).
