| 25–27th September Autumn Steam Gala | |||
| Our first visit to the SVR in a few years co-insided with the long awaited return to traffic of Ivatt 4MT 43106. As a former M&GN loco we've followed developments of the 'Flying Pig' (as the class were affectionately known) closely. A broad smile came over my face as I saw the loco simmering in Bridgnorth yard on Saturday morning, looking resplendent after its heavy overhaul. The SVR is also home to an 2MT 46443, so to complete the trio of Ivatt designed locos 2MT tank 41241 from the K&WVR was hired in for the Gala. Also making a very welcome appearance (after its exploits at the NNR) was recently restored GNR N2 1744 (from the GCR) which was paired throughout the weekend with the lines Gresley teak coaches. The final two visitors were of Great Western origin, Hall 4936 Kinlet Hall (from Tyseley) and 56xx 5643 (on loan from its current base at the Llangollen Railway). All of which just leaves the home fleet: GWR Manor 7802 Bradley Manor, 7818 Erlestoke Manor, Small Prairie 4566, Pannier tank 5764, Port Talbot tank 813; LMS Stanier Mogul 42968. | |||
